Museum Teams up with Boy Scouts
Merit Badge University Programs
BRANSON, Missouri - The National Center for Presidential Studies and American Presidents Museum will once again team up with Boy Scout troops across SW Missouri and NW Arkansas to offer a series of Citizenship merit badge programs.
The programs will take the Scouts through Community, National and World badges and focus on American history, the branches and roles of local, national and international Governments, the documents that built the foundation of our nation, world help organizations and what it means to be a good citizen. The programs are full-day activities and are scheduled for Saturday, September 13 (Nation), Saturday, September 27 (World) and Saturday, October 18 (Community).
Individual Scouts as well as entire Scout Troops are invited to participate. The programs will run from 9:00AM – 3:00PM with a mid-morning break that will include a snack and a break for lunch on their own.
“Scouting teaches boys the fundamentals of many necessary skills and attributes to help them on their way to becoming responsible adult members of society,” stated Stormy Lynn Snow, CEO and founder of the education center. “None are as important as citizenship.”
“One of the primary functions of our educational center is teaching American history, and instilling pride in our nation in all who come through our doors. Offering these merit badge programs is an excellent way for our center to reach out to the community, and to the Boy Scouts of America, and show what a wonderful resource we are,” continued Snow.
The planned programs will include several special visitors to aid in the various components required, role-playing, and a guided tour of the museum with focus on the Documents of Freedom, and various activities revolving around the many requirements which make up each merit badge unit.
The cost for participation is $4 per Scout, and complimentary admission for leaders and group chaperones. All Scouts must be accompanied by an adult chaperone or scout leader. Group reservations are welcome. Program information and registration forms can be found on the museum’s web sited education page.
